When I miss London, I think about the forests, the woods that seem to change between each visit. Wild dogs, empty pools by the cemetery. And the trees. Once upon a time I joined a group that went around looking for the oldest tree tops, trying to discover the differences. I would go home and try to draw them but all that came out were these muddy rorschachey ink splotches. Now i look at the few that got scanned in while we were making sorry love and it's like pictures of our lost london. can't wait to find it again on 7 march! see you in the park. i really should start a band of rag tag tree explorers in el retiro (south east), anyone interested? xolupe

I guess we can look at trees (maybe some dinosaurs in cry-pal too) as long as we can go to mildred’s over and over and eat mushroom ale pie and mushypeas.

I really love that picture. Is there a bigger version that I could use as a desktop?
Love to all, Barnaby x

Dimitra how I’d love to see those blackboard drawings ! what kind of trees? i just came back from a walk - so many little white flowers hanging from the branches - la primavera!

The problem with blackboard drawings is that you have to rub them out the next time you want to do one. Someone took photos with their phone but they can’t download them on their computer, apparently. Anyway. The first one was an almond tree in bloom and the second one was in a drawing of creation, so it was a generic sort of fruit tree. With apples.
Also, I think I dreamed of you last night. And of a beach, and of beans. In the same dream of course.

the almond tree sounds beautiful. and the apple tree ! you’re inspiring me to leave everything behind and go to the countryside this weekend in search of..

Will we be hiding in the park? And, can’t you start something in the South West? Of England? We had to do blackboard drawings of trees at school this week and I went from The Girl Who Can’t Draw To Save Her Life to The Girl Who Looks At Trees With New Eyes in two days. I knew that trees were pretty but I never knew how much.
