greetings from hot hot happy madrid! how's the end of summer treating you? are you listening to wonderful, melancholy augustine airliner on repeat like i have? have you found it as difficult as me to place yourself in front of a computer to do anything? even though there were several post ideas floating around the house in the last few days, germinating, growing a bit under this sun. truth be told i've been here all week pretty much doing nothing, simply fighting the sweat with lots of cold vinegary soups (cf. gazpacho, ajoblanco*), watching movies half-way (mr arkadin, so concentrated yet oil-n-vinegary, even half of it will do for the time being. btw the real,… Read More

amor de días means a love of days. it's a nice way to pass the hours in between eating spoon sweets and filling the bird feeder with berry suet pellets. my family raised alarum when they thought the name was amor de dios. por dios! i haven't gone all gregorian. it's just a way of killing time in between organizing some sweet jumps for the freecycle bikes. and getting a lot of spanish guitars fixed. i brake for broken guitarritas. alasdair from the clientele and i have been recording some songs with lovely ken brake and his unsinkable vocal non-denominational choirs. we've sort of played two shows already with a little help from our friends (thanks nikolaj! thanks… Read More

while we wait for the dust to settle on the amor de dias show a couple days ago i thought i'd drop this tidbit of pipas in the media on you. our friend "sarah" was having some sort of foot massage or eyebrow-icure or something similar and, while sitting there, idly grabbed the nearest magazine which happened to be the march jessica alba'd issue of latina. if she'd been drinking something perhaps she would then have spat out the (imaginary) kombucha because in those very pages was a little pipas mention. thanks to adriana lópez, the contributing writer, author and pipas fan who mentioned us in her blurb. check it out:

if there's one thing more exciting than guille in the eurovision song content, it is a band containing two of my favourite people and musical heroes... i present to you:
amor de dias featuring lupe núñez-fernández and alasdair maclean

In a few days we'll join a bunch of friends to sing a few songs and celebrate San, dear friend and fantastic drummer of the ladybug transistor. it was an (land of ill)earthquake(s) of a show in walnut, ca! thanks so much to derrick for opening the doors and moving the furniture in his house so we could play one last show together! whoever the hell was playing drums on hiding the park: nice job! :-)

Can you hear it? it's about time we storm outta Fort Hamilton Park and follow the thunderbolt... tick tock tick tock kaboom.. just one more day.
