only a day or two until we pipas reunite at rip it up 2008 in säffle, sweden with lots of fun bands and friends! here's the list:

it has been over a year since we last played together! it's hard to believe it's been that long. but we've got a whole lot of songs that we want to come out sooner rather than later. maybe we'll play some on saturday or put one up here or on some social networking site... stay tuned!

you can't take anything for granted these days, not even 5 minutes of sunshine. maybe it's the trying to grow basil seedlings for the first time but i'm noticing more than other years that summer in london is really like watching a long film in a tinted glass steam room. waiting for the pimms punctuations, smiling in a sort of stupefaction, you imagine one day you'll be able to blog about the beauty of seeing colorful clothes hanging on lines as you take the train to work through west norwood. that maybe someone forgot to pick them up and they're getting sunbleached, and what about all those dried up derelict sheds and rusty fences, where do the thoughts go etc.… Read More

well, apparently it's true! lupe is on her way to the conan o'brien studio right now... she will be appearing as a backing singer with feist... it airs tonight june 12 on nbc. i hope she can give tim russert hell for being a spineless hack. and pick up a few drumming tips from max weinberg. good luck lupe!

wow! what a show last night. it was a good one. meeting lots of new people and old friends and having land of ill earthquakes come to the show was the best. good to finally see beach house and chat with russell (who we met in london a few years ago) along on the tour with them. the clientele were awesome. we so appreciate being able to meet up and hang out. we're now taking the short airplane cut back to new york while they have to take the long road. may it treat them well.

we have the popfest nyc on sunday at the luna lounge in brooklyn which will be great! please come out!  xo!

hello! we're working here in madrid. we've been eating lupe's masterful white bean spread. so garlic-y, so good. it's been powering our recording sessions the last couple of days. that and richard fleischer movies at the filmoteca. it's an amazing old cinema. a couple nights ago we saw orson welles embark on a 10 minute anti-capital punishment monologue in 'compulsion' (1959). incredible. also starring a very young dean stockwell. conferring afterwards, we concluded it was 'quantum leap' than brought dean stockwell into our lives. anything pre-that, we just didn't know. at least back then. 

so the recording is going well. we hope to have something out later this year. the pop fest in new york around may 25 or so will… Read More

yes, as zeeeeeeeeebahtronic pointed out in a blog comment earlier, there was a little snow in new york. technically it counts as snow. but if you blinked you missed it. hoping it's a harbinger of things to come though.

we had a pipas teleconference yesterday and outlined our plan for the year ahead. ok, we didn't. well, we skype'd and caught up but we didn't plan anything. but no fears, we will be pipas active this year. new songs, new shows, etc. we want to do it all still. we're fired up!

hello from tartu! here we are at the Rock &(or) Roll club. yes, they named it after. A cold drizzly friday night in beautiful southern estonia, wandering through the stately wooden house lined streets with our copilots Harries & Pias (and guardian angels Tauno and Armin, without whom..). Last night was amazing - we went to see a photo exhibit about bedouins, had coffee and an interview with Marko in the Moscow lounge, rocked out with Pia Fraus & HH, and our biggest fan in finland turned up and nearly joined us on stage. Greetings from Tallinn! We took an incredible nap this morning on the ferry from Helsinki. Best sleep in our lives? This city is so beautiful & dramatically lit the buildings cast shadows on the sky. We're very sad to report that the shows in Kiel and Leipzig this next week won't be happening for reasons beyond our control. But Hamburg and Berlin are still on, and we can't wait! Adios.

dang! we're here at the venue/hotel (all in one, you really can't believe how nice it is to step from your room down a few steps and around a corner to where you're playing. vertical integration to the max!), retro. daniel and josef met us a the bus station (touring sweden by bus is fun!) and we settled down here. so nice to be stationary for a little. erik came by for an interview for student radio. and now lupe is sleeping over there. thinking about what to play for the show... thinking about breakfast tomorrow! and sleeping a little later!  Read or write comments!

at long last, four years after our first trip to kalmar for mitt basta liv, we returned and actually got to see the town for real and spend quality time with patric and famille and lina. as a bonus! it was the first day of swedish christmas candy (vegan too). like little fluffy clouds of chewy sweet goodness. we played later that evening with the sugar plum fairies who are a teen pop rock sensation, perhaps, in sweden. a strange but fun show! there were towels backstage with a little pipas sign next to them. and another missed opportunity for onstage smoke. the sugar plummers busted out the smoke. i wish we'd known. regrets! regrets! regrets! we danced around after… Read More

Sweet gamla stan.

tonight we are staying in the most incredibly haunted looking office in Stockholm's Gamla Stan.. on a little courtyard called something Fredag's something.... haunted i tell you.. The show was so much fun--- again, some haunting, the poltergeist of a hum coming through and overpowering us all, with awe.... too short here, too short. our hearts will remain in sweet gamla stan with the bells for a long time! too many drink tickets. we lightweights. so we're having some cheer with our friend jyrky in the red curtained backstage. i don't think i can finish this g&t even if someone dares me though. falling asleep prontito.

so we got our show in brooklyn on october 26th! it's gonna be fun! i just bought another electric guitar so it will be pipas goes all electric. no more of that acoustic rubbish. :-) we will be accompanied by the ballet & oppenheimer. i just saw the ballet a few weeks ago opening for flin flon and they were really great. not sure what, if any, other new york shows we'll be playing so you'd better get to this one!
