wow! it's so embarrasing to admit but i'd (mark) never been to the bowery ballroom before. call me reclusive if you want. but we played there last night with the clientele and beach house and in addition to being a great show by the aforementioned bands, the bowery ballroom sound people and staff were quite lovely. funny and nice and took care with the sound. and it sounded so good. probably the best sounding clientele show i've ever seen. yow. anyway, we're recovering from the night. one of us has gone to boston. the other not. thanks for listening to us last night! thanks again to the clientele for letting us crash their party.

wow! what a show last night. it was a good one. meeting lots of new people and old friends and having land of ill earthquakes come to the show was the best. good to finally see beach house and chat with russell (who we met in london a few years ago) along on the tour with them. the clientele were awesome. we so appreciate being able to meet up and hang out. we're now taking the short airplane cut back to new york while they have to take the long road. may it treat them well.
we have the popfest nyc on sunday at the luna lounge in brooklyn which will be great! please come out! xo!

the tremendously sad fact is that our last show of the tour with the ever increasingly amazing land of ill earthquakes is over with one last show tonight... may 22nd... please come to this house party to celebrate their awesomeness. we love them. here are the details:

the secret show last night at megamoog and mary's apartment up in sunset was really fun! thanks so much to them. megamoog had just played in new york a week or so ago and we'd missed it so it was wonderful to see her play *in her own apartment*! and you know, a house show is so refreshing after all our stadium gigs these days. you can actually see your audience. feel in touch. no stage. no boundaries. it's easier to heckle derrick from land of ill earthquakes. they did a bunch of different songs from the night before so that was exciting.

holy cow. we're here in san francisco! we were just on KALX an hour or so ago... and completely forgot to warn you all. duh. thanks dan and sam and everyone there. hope it sounded ok. it was a lot of fun. we broke our first ever string ever in the history of pipas.
our show at rickshaw stop is tomorrow night. can't wait to meet up with land of ill earthquakes... ok. we gotta get out of this muddy waters coffee shop... bye!

thanks to the sharp guillotines at the astor place kinkos we now have the covers for our new tour ep. a limited edition of 100 copies will be available at all our upcoming shows. thanks also to the nice porno dvd guy who let us use the guillotines. according to pidg, the dood assured us kinkos is the best price for color copying. so it's 2 for 5 from him. how does he make them that cheap? see you in sf!!! xolupe

hello from tartu! here we are at the Rock &(or) Roll club. yes, they named it after. A cold drizzly friday night in beautiful southern estonia, wandering through the stately wooden house lined streets with our copilots Harries & Pias (and guardian angels Tauno and Armin, without whom..). Last night was amazing - we went to see a photo exhibit about bedouins, had coffee and an interview with Marko in the Moscow lounge, rocked out with Pia Fraus & HH, and our biggest fan in finland turned up and nearly joined us on stage. Disappearing shows.

Greetings from Tallinn! We took an incredible nap this morning on the ferry from Helsinki. Best sleep in our lives? This city is so beautiful & dramatically lit the buildings cast shadows on the sky. We're very sad to report that the shows in Kiel and Leipzig this next week won't be happening for reasons beyond our control. But Hamburg and Berlin are still on, and we can't wait! Adios.

our second time in copenhagen and our second time with ampel. such a good time. hanging out with them again, hearing and seeing them play (with an extra guitar too). the 101 year old violin! laura k. showed up. so long since we'd last seen her as she moved back to copenhagen a while back. but lucky for lupe she's moving back to london next year. maybe they will make their movie, "us", now! :-) goodnight! here we come varberg! dang! we're here at the venue/hotel (all in one, you really can't believe how nice it is to step from your room down a few steps and around a corner to where you're playing. vertical integration to the max!), retro. daniel and josef met us a the bus station (touring sweden by bus is fun!) and we settled down here. so nice to be stationary for a little. erik came by for an interview for student radio. and now lupe is sleeping over there. thinking about what to play for the show... thinking about breakfast tomorrow! and sleeping a little later!

Kalmar non-kalamity!

at long last, four years after our first trip to kalmar for mitt basta liv, we returned and actually got to see the town for real and spend quality time with patric and famille and lina. as a bonus! it was the first day of swedish christmas candy (vegan too). like little fluffy clouds of chewy sweet goodness. we played later that evening with the sugar plum fairies who are a teen pop rock sensation, perhaps, in sweden. a strange but fun show! there were towels backstage with a little pipas sign next to them. and another missed opportunity for onstage smoke. the sugar plummers busted out the smoke. i wish we'd known. regrets! regrets! regrets! we danced around after…

Sweet gamla stan.

tonight we are staying in the most incredibly haunted looking office in Stockholm's Gamla Stan.. on a little courtyard called something Fredag's something.... haunted i tell you.. The show was so much fun--- again, some haunting, the poltergeist of a hum coming through and overpowering us all, with awe.... too short here, too short. our hearts will remain in sweet gamla stan with the bells for a long time! too many drink tickets. we lightweights. so we're having some cheer with our friend jyrky in the red curtained backstage. i don't think i can finish this g&t even if someone dares me though. falling asleep prontito.

hello! it is just about my (mark's) favourite time of the year right now and i am anxiously waiting for the leaves in prospect park to go crazy colour riot. it's my first autumn in brooklyn - it's exciting!
as you may have noticed tour dates are trickling in slowly for november. we hope to have some more added soon for sweden, finland and some other places. we're excited to see pia fraus and harry hunks!
lupe is handling europe and i get the west coast in the u.s. and maybe a show or two on the east coast. it's the first time we've really booked our own tour so we're learning as we go. my end of things may all… Read More

happy labour day! no sooner have we begun to rest from our travels, more begin to be planned. i feel so non-stop. so watch out for tour dates added for november as we amble through september... european ones are more certain as of this moment but we're looking for west coast u.s. dates too. we need help! as usual.

hello? is this thing on? well, sad news to report. our semi-planned east coast u.s. shows are not going to happen due to financial constraints. yes, we can't really afford it (flights, car rental and so on). so we will not be playing the new england pop fest now. or any of the other shows we might have tagged along on. we're very sorry. and are trying to reschedule for later this year. if you wanna play with us, write! :-)
